We’re Federated Insurance.

We’ve been around for a long time. Federated Insurance can be traced all the way back to 1890, when a group of farm implement dealers in Minnesota formed an association to reduce their insurance costs. About 30 years later, in 1920, the company’s Canadian division was born, and our focus on serving Canadians with the highest level of customer service hasn’t wavered since. The company became 100% Canadian owned and operated by 1990 when it was purchased by Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd.

Our insurance solutions

Giving back

Here at Federated Insurance, we believe it’s important to give back to the communities we serve. Our goal is to help Canadian children and youth reach their full potential. We do this by contributing 2% of our pre-tax profit to meaningful causes.

We also team up to do good with our employees. We double match our employees’ qualifying charitable donations up to $2,000 per employee, donate $500 towards each employee’s charity of choice for every 40 hours they volunteer, and give our teams one paid day each year to volunteer in their communities.

Our charitable partners

We’re proud to collaborate with six charitable partners whose missions align with our focus goal to create a positive impact in the lives of children and youth within our communities. For details on how we support causes beyond our charitable partners, please read our latest Public Accountability Statement.
