The current trend to Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) allows employees the benefit of using their personal mobile devices to conduct work, and employers the opportunity to communicate with them for ‘free’. And while this approach is most certainly cost-effective, it’s not without risk, especially when it comes to sending potentially sensitive information about schedules, business plans, or clients to the employees’ devices that are untrusted and perhaps already compromised.

But that’s not to say it can’t be done. Companies need to be aware of the risks associated with allowing employees to use their personal mobile devices for work purposes, and how they can protect themselves against them.
